Dalton Cyr wins at 37th Annual Young Artist Awards
Dalton Cyr won his first Young Artist Award at the 37th annual Young Artist Awards Event held on March 13, 2016. Known as Young Hollywood’s Academy awards, past nominees include Diane Lane, Leonardo DiCaprio, Drew Barrymore, Jody Foster, Miley Cyrus, Michael Jackson to name a few.) Dalton had 2 nominations and won for outstanding ensemble cast in a web or VOD series for his role as Judd Pounder in “A History of Radness”. He also was the opening act for the show which aired on PBS and was a presenter at the show with actress/singer Laci Kay. Dalton’s original music was also played exclusively during the 2.5 hours guests were walking the red carpet. (Watch Dalton Cyr and Isaak Presley’s acceptance speech at bit.ly/DCyrYAA)
Dalton says, “It was thrilling to hear “A History of Radness” called out as the winner of OutstandingYoung Ensemble Cast in a Web or VOD Series during the 37th Annual Young ArtistAwards show. Isaak Presley (who played Jack) and I were there to accept the award. Winning as a group was the best way to win. My fellow cast members and I all felt the magic when we filmed A History of Radness. I am beyond grateful to have received this award alongside this amazing group of actors.”
Director, Alethea Jones said, “Yesterday A History of Radness won aYoung Artist award for outstanding ensemble. So many mixed emotions about this. I’m thrilled, proud and a little heartbroken. They are a special and deserving ensemble indeed and we worked so hard in the weeks of prep to create that deep, organic connection. Maybe it was too subtle for kids entertainment. But what made the pilot miss that series pick up, I think, is the same thing that made it special. Each member of this ensemble – Dalton Cyr, Ceci Balagot, Isaak Presley and Marlhy Murphy are going to go on to do tremendous things in their lives. They’re already doing that. I’ll always cherish the time I got to work with this warm, generous, stupidly cool, ridiculously goofy and really reeeeeally WEIRD little group of actors. Thanks to Tara Polacik Sorensen, Christina Reynolds, Ken Lipman and Aaron Davidson and Amazon Studios for getting behind this beautiful production. And of course – thank you to Andrew Green- who dreamed up these characters and gave us such genuine and funny material to work with.”
An edited version of the show will air on TV on the Los Angeles affiliate of PBS Channel on March 20th. The show will be picked up at other PBS stations around the country, so look for it!

An article was published on RivenMaster’s Place on September 12, 2013. The article, titled “Dalton Cyr Seriously Skillful Songwriter/Performer” covers Dalton’s trip to Seattle, Washington where he attended The Prodigy Camp–an international workshop made up of 20 film-makers and songwriters aged 12-18 from around the world, who were chosen my industry talent scouts. Dalton was the 2013 Prodigy Camp Scholarship recipient along with the Blackberry Jam brothers.
Rick Stevenson, Director of The Prodigy Camp and an award winning director, writer and producer said, “Dalton is a prodigy in the truest sense of the word. As Director of The Prodigy Camp, I see a lot of amazing talent every year from around the world and his talent is the purest. Recording Artist Dalton Cyr with First Coast Living Hosts, Nick Loren & Charlene Shirk, 2012
In case you missed it, on Friday I appeared on First Coast Living TV show with co-hosts Nick Loren and Charlene Shirk. I had a blast on the show and sang part of “You’re Not Alone” (sorry no video of that part) and “Upside Down” during the main segment. Nick and Charlene also interviewed me in the Intro Segment and in the Main Segment. Then I hung out with them at their co-host desk during the closing of the show (sorry no video for the end of the show either). Nick Loren is a Hollywood producer, actor and singer. He is one of the few artists to score a top ten single on the Billboard Charts as an Indie Artist! He’s been John Travolta’s stunt double for 14 years and been in 18 movies. Charlene Shirk owns a production company Shirk Productions and an award winning writer, broadcaster, and media celebrity.
